Down in the boondocks Down in the boondocks People put me down 'cause That's the side of town I was born in I love her she loves me but I don't fit in her society Lord have mercy on the boy from down in the boondocks Ev'ry night I watch the lights from the house up on the hill I love a little girl who lives up there and I guess I always will But I don't dare knock on her door 'Cause her daddy is my boss man So I have to try to be content Just to see her when ever I can Down in the boondocks Down in the boondocks People put me down 'cause That's the side of town I was born in I love her she loves me but I don't fit in her society Lord have mercy on the boy from down in the boondocks Down in the boondocks Down in the boondocks One fine day I'll find the way to move from this old shack I'll hold my head up like a king and I never never will look back Until that morning I'll work and slave And I'll save ev'ry dime But tonight she'll have to steal away To see me one more time Down in the boondocks Down in the boondocks People put me down 'cause That's the side of town I was born in I love her she loves me but I don't fit in her society Lord have mercy on the boy from down in the boondocks Lord have mercy on the boy from down in the boondocks Lord have mercy on the boy fr

As you poured out the drinks for me I could feel your hooks sink right into me I knew that you were my destiny That you would get the best of me On the way down to Mexico I danced in your rodeo You said poverty was pisturesque As you dragged your nails across my chest You're so cold You're so cruel I'm yo' man Not yo' fool Are you already over me Are you already over me Are you already sick of me What a fool I've been What a fool I've been. At the first flush of ecstasy You lay naked next to me Our love just put the dawn to flight And I ignored all those warning lights When you laughed I just cried When you left I just died Are you already over me Are you already over me Are you already sick of me What a fool I've been What a fool I've been It's so hard to hold on to a love divine I'm kneeling over in the corner Worshipping your shrine. I've been hurt So abused I've been burned I've been bruised. Are you already over me Are you already over me Are you already sick of me What a fool I've been What a fool I've been What a fool I've been What a fool I've been.....

When I'm walking beside her People tell me I'm lucky. Yes, I know I'm a lucky guy. I remember the first time I was lonely without her. Can't stop thinking about her now. Every little thing she does, She does for me, yeah. And you know the things she does, She does for me, oooh. When I'm with her I'm happy Just to know that she loves me. Yes, I know that she loves me now. There is one thing I'm sure of, I will love her forever. For I know love will never die. Every little thing she does, She does for me, yeah. And you know the things she does, She does for me, oooh. Every little thing she does, She does for me, yeah. And you know the things she does, She does for me, oooh. Every little thing. Every little thing. Every little ...

Every night in my dreams I see you, I feel you That is how I know you go on Far across the distance And spaces between us You have come to show you go on Near, far, wherever you are I believe that the heart does go on Once more you open the door And you're here in my heart And my heart will go on and on Love can touch us one time And last for a lifetime And never let go till we're gone Love was when I loved you One true time I hold to In my life we'll always go on Near, far, wherever you are I believe that the heart does go on Once more you open the door And you're here in my heart And my heart will go on and on You're here, there's nothing I fear And I know that my heart will go on We'll stay forever this way You are safe in my heart And my heart will go on and on

Lay down your arms of love and surrender to me. Lay down your arms of love and love me peacefully, yeah. Use your arms for loving me, baby that's the way it's got to be. There ain't no reason for you to be bad for you're the woman and I love you so. So forget the other boys, 'cos my love is real, come off your battlefield. Lay down your arms of love, and love me peacefully. Lay down your arms of love and love me tenderly, yeah. Use your arms for hold me tight, Baby I don't want to fight no more The weapons you're using are hurting me bad, and someday you're gonna see, 'cos my love for you baby, is the truest you've ever had. A soldier of love is hard to be. Lay down your arms of love, and let the peacefully. Lay down your arms of love and surrender to me, yeah. Use your arms for squeezing, and please the one that you want to hold. Soldier of love, baby lay down your arms, soldier of love, baby lay down your arms. Cuban Cigars 02:41
Away we go Sail across the Gulf of Mexico And go where the tourists don't go And the days go by slow Take me back there If your old enough to pull up a chair Tequila's flowin' free everywhere So drink if you dare Six streets back Avenida Raphael Melgar In a concrete shack Smokin' Cuban cigars Me and my amigos Go to Negra Raul's Poco senoritas They keep my dirty glass full Hey! What'cha say! Before we get too blown away Let's go where the local bands play And play til the next day Stay out all night Standin' under Raul's light Don't you dare cool your tequila with ice Or you will pay twice! Six streets back Avenida Raphael Melgar In a concrete shack Smokin' Cuban cigars Me and my amigos Go to Negra Raul's Poco senoritas They keep my dirty glass full Six streets back Avenida Raphael Melgar In a concrete shack Smokin' Cuban cigars Me and my amigos Go to Negra Raul's Poco senoritas They keep my dirty glass full Sail down to Mexico Oooooo Take me back there Oooooo

Crimson flames tied through my ears Rollin' high and mighty traps Pounced with fire on flaming roads Using ideas as my maps "We'll meet on edges, soon," said I Proud 'neath heated brow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now. Half-cracked prejudice leaped forth "Rip down all hate," I screamed Lies that life is black and white Spoke from my skull, I dreamed Romantic facts of musketeers Foundationed deep, somehow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now. Girls' faces formed the forward path From phony jealousy To memorizing politics Of ancient history Flung down by corpse evangelists Unthought of, thought, somehow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now. A self-ordained professor's tongue Too serious to fool Spouted out that liberty Is just equality in school "Equality," I spoke the word As if a wedding vow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now. In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand At the mongrel dogs who teach Fearing not that I'd become my enemy In the instant that I preach My existence led by confusion boats Mutiny from stern to bow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now. Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats Too noble to neglect Deceived me into thinking I had something to protect Good and bad, I define these terms Quite clear, no doubt, somehow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now.

How does it feel to be One of the beautiful people Now that you know who you are What do you want to be And have you traveled very far Far as the eye can see Baby, you're a rich man Baby, you're a rich man Baby, you're a rich man, too. How does it feel to be One of the beautiful people How often have you been there Often enough to know What did you see when you were there Nothing that doesn't show Baby, you're a rich man Baby, you're a rich man Baby, you're a rich man, too. You keep all your money in a big brown bag Inside a zoo What a thing to do Baby, you're a rich man Baby, you're a rich man Baby, you're a rich man, too. (When the rain comes, they run and hide their heads) (They might as well be dead) (When the rain comes....When the rain comes) How does it feel to be One of the beautiful people Tuned to a natural E I'm happy to be that way Now that you've found another key What are you going to play? Baby, you're a rich man Baby, you're a rich man Baby, you're a rich man, too. You keep all your money in a big brown bag Inside a zoo What a thing to do Baby, you're a rich man Baby, you're a rich man Baby, you're a rich man, too.

about

Skip Hinely Wilmington Island, Georgia

Before moving to Savannah from Columbus GA, Skip was planning his escape to Rock & Roll! He met older neighbor, Thad Strickland, in '63. Skip had drums, the Stricklands had guitars so the garage bands began! Then the Beatles! This made it serious business. Then the Stones. They made it loose. Skip with Thad, was in a developmental contract with former Allman Bros manager, Bunky Odom in the 80's. ... more
